Where is the Event and how do I get there?

The event is located in our C.I.D.C compound on Tharbies Farm in Sawbridgworth. The postcode is CM21 0LL. Scroll to the bottom of this page for full directions.

The venue is best reached by car, but transport services are available from local stations should you need them.

How much does it cost?

The event is £99. At the moment we are offering an introductory price of £66.

How long will it last?

You will be at the location for 4 hours, either our morning slot (10am-2pm or 2:30pm-6:30pm). There will be no official breaks, but you can grab drinks or snacks between the individual events if there is time.

What will I learn?

During the half day course you will be trained in a variety of combat and survival techniques. Weapons training, including Modern and Improvised Weapons, Urban and Rural Survival, Self Defense and Practical Apocalypse Specific First Aid.

What weapons will I use?

Each member group will be armed with Blank Firing guns at some point in the experience. These are REAL GUNS, with solid barrels so no flash or projectiles can exit out of the barrel. They use gunpowder and act exactly like a real gun, the slide comes back, the spent shell is ejected and a new round loaded. They are VERY dangerous, but training will be given on how to handle and fire them. You’ll also get your hands on our Re-Curve crossbows and hunting slingshots.

What will actually happen on the day?

After your initial briefing and first task you will be divided into groups of up to 8 people, taking part in 4 very different activities. At the end of the experience the groups will be pitted against each other to claim the title of ‘Most likely to survive the Apocalypse’. Prizes and awards will also be given out!

How many people can take part?

Each event has up to 24 people capacity. This will be split into smaller group of up to 8 people. If you would like a larger group for a party / stag etc please contact us and we can try to accommodate you!

When does the event run?

Apocalypse Training is available on selected weekdays and selected weekends throughout the year- please refer to our bookings page for available dates. What should I wear?

Please bring suitable clothing and footwear. Something comfortable that you do not mind getting a little dirty. You will be doing physical activity as the event is very hands on. We will be both indoors and outside.  If you would like to come in costume, please make sure it is sensible.

Be weather wise; if it is a sunny day we will aim to do most of the event outside. If it is raining we will aim to as much as we can in the dry, so please check the weather before you come and dress accordingly. Sunscreen is also advised if we are lucky enough to have sunny weather.

Do I need to be fit? Could I get hurt?

This event is moderately physical so a reasonable level of fitness would be advised. Any medical conditions must be disclosed on your disclaimer form and must be made aware to our team when booking, these will also be relayed to your trainers, instructors and event staff. The experience involves a variety of events and situations. If you you do not wish to take part in a particular activity, you do not have to.

Can I just turn up without booking?

No. You will need to pre book. People without a booking will be turned away. If you would like to check for spaces on the day, please send an email and we may be able to squeeze you in. All you will need is your name and email address on the day.

Do you take group bookings?

Yes – we can take group bookings. There is a group discount booking available, please contact us at info@apocalypsetraining.co.uk or through our contact page.

Are there age limits?

The event is for all ages, but younger groups (15 and under) will have to have a paying adult within the group. The event deals with some adult themes so parental or guardian permission must be given. The weapon section of the experience can be extremely dangerous, we will not tolerate any misuse, all weapons and trainers must be treated with respect at all times.

Can I come in costume?

Of course, but please be sensible about it, the event is both indoor and outdoor. Please wear sensible footwear. No fake or imitation weapons are allowed.

Can I store my valuables there?

Any valuables are YOUR responsibility. We do not have lockers or anywhere to store your belongings. The car park is a public so any items left in the cars are done so at your own risk.

Are there any extra costs on the day?

There are no extra costs for the event itself, it is all inclusive. Snacks or drinks are available for a small cost. Merchandise will also be available for purchase.

Is there somewhere to get food & drink?

Drinks and snacks will be available before and after the event. You may wish to bring some water with you to drink throughout the day if it is particularly warm!

Can I film / take pictures?

The event is very hands on, and we would not want you to be distracted with a camera. There will be a photographer who will be taking photos throughout the day for use on the website and Facebook pages. When the event finishes you can take pictures of your trainers and teammates, and we will take an official picture for the website.

I want to bring my friends / mum / granny, but they don’t want to do the experience?

If you must bring friends etc, they can wait but will not be allowed to participate. There will be a £10 charge for spectators due to our insurance. If parents need to wait for children this will be allowed in our seating area. All people waiting or spectating will need to let us know in advance.

Cancellation

If you would like to cancel your booking please let us know by sending us an email at booking@apocalypsetraining.co.uk. We would ask for 5 Days notice to cancel any bookings of 1 or 2 people. We would ask for 10 Days notice to cancel any groups of 3 or over. We will not be able to offer a refund on any cancellations with less than these notice periods.
All cancelled bookings will incur a 3 percent admin charge. Any bookings cancelled after 30 days of purchase and paid through Paypal will incur an admin charge of 5 percent.

If you decide the event is too physical or you need to leave, unfortunately we cannot offer a refund. We can offer you a place to sit out, wait for your fellow survivalists and have a cup of tea.

Does this course guarantee my survival or give me any official qualifications?

The only person that can guarantee your survival is YOU. We offer no guarantees. We are not an officially recognised course although our instructors are all qualified in their fields. You will be supplied with a ‘certified apocalypse survivalist’ card. This is only for fun and provides no official recognition. Please don’t try to use it as ID or in any official capacity.

From the A10/A414 (Hertford/Ware)
Take A414 toward Harlow. At Eastwick roundabout take 1st Exit (Eastwick Road) sign posted to High Wych and Gilston. Continue through Gilston (on High Wych Rd) . On entering High Wych take first left (High Wych Lane). After turning left pass the Half Moon Pub and right into Beanfield Road. After passing The Manor of Groves Golf and County Club on your left, take the second right hand turn (off of Beanfield Rd) onto an unknown road. After approx. 1/2 a mile take first farm drive way on right signposted Tharbies Farm. Follow track to the right of the building ahead of you. Enter car park on left.

From Harlow
Take the A1184 (Harlow Road) signposted Sawbridgeworth. At double roundabout in Sawbridgeworth turn left (West Road). At T-Junction turn right (Beanfield Road). Take first right onto unknown road. After approx. 1/2 a mile take first farm drive way on right signposted Tharbies Farm. Follow track to the right of the building ahead of you. Enter car park on left.

From A120 (Bishop’s Stortford)
Take A1184 (Tesco roundabout) signposted Sawbridgeworth. At third roundabout take third exit signposted Much Hadham (B1004 Great Hadham Road). After 1.5 miles take first left (opposite Gt. Hadham Golf and Country Club). At T-Junction turn left posted Allens Green and Sawbridgeworth. Continue on this road and take second right onto unknown road. After approx. 1/2 a mile take first farm drive way on left signposted Tharbies Farm. Follow track to the right of the building ahead of you. Enter car park on left.

From M11 Northbound
Come off at junction 7 and follow signs to Hertford A414. After five roundabouts follow direct ‘From Harlow’ above. From M11 Southbound Come off at junction 8 and follow signs to A120 Puckeridge. after three roundabouts follow directions from A120 (Bishop’s Stortford’ above.
